Meet John-Paul
John-Paul Langbroek, Minister for Education, Training and Employment
Member for Surfers Paradise
John-Paul was sworn in as Minister for Education, Training and Employment on 3 April 2012. He is aided by Saxon Rice, Assistant Minister for Technical and Further Education.
Campbell Newman’s Government believes education and training are the keys to improved participation in employment. In order to further expand opportunity in Queensland, Minister Langbroek has promised to support our teachers in their classrooms as they encourage, nurture and educate Queensland’s future workforce.
Mr Langbroek knows the great opportunities that can result from a good education. Both of JP’s parents who emigrated from the Netherlands, worked in Queensland’s public school system. His father was a teacher and his mother was a teacher aide.
JP takes great pride in being a product of our great state school system - he captained Sunnybank State High School.
He then studied dental science at the University of Queensland where he received honours.
Mr Langbroek became the Member for Surfers Paradise in 2004 and served as Leader of the Opposition from 2009-2011.
He has also served as a Shadow Minister in the portfolios of Public Works, Housing and Racing, Employment and Training, Health, Education, Arts and Multicultural Affairs, Police, Corrective Services and Emergency Services.
Minister Langbroek is looking forward to meeting many principals, teachers, teacher aides and support staff as he works hard for all Queenslanders to implement the Newman Government’s education, skills and employment agendas.
